What's next?

What are you looking for in the next job?

Are you going to another Christian school that requires support raising?

Are you looking for an International school? An American school?

Are you staying in America? Texas? Midland?

Where are the kids going to school this semester?

Where are you going to live?

How are you going to pay for things when support stops coming in May?

Over the past few weeks, the questions have been coming more frequently and in greater variety.  Everyone wants to know what’s next for our family.  The questions come from a true love and concern for the well-being of our family.  We are so thankful that we have people that love us, support us and care for us during all times in our lives but especially in the last few difficult months.  Thank you for loving us, thank you for offering your help, your prayers, your financial support.  Each of you blesses us beyond measure, and we praise God for the gift He has given us in our far reaching, compassionate, selfless support system.

Right now the answer to all of these questions is: we don’t know.

And believe me, this answer is just as hard for us to hear as it is for us to say to you.  We don’t have any idea where God wants us next, and we don’t know when we will know.  Each of us has his or her own preferences, but we don’t know if the preference is just us talking or the Spirit talking to us.  The kids would like to never go to “real” school again; it’s too hard to make friends and leave.  I would prefer not to work with “Christians” again; they hurt you worse than “the world”.  Joe would prefer to go back to Europe.  Europe is in his heart and always has been.  But what does God want? We don’t know.

But what we do know is that we trust Him.  And we know that whatever is coming next is going to be an amazing journey, because it always is with Him.

So today we are going to breathe, have coffee, praise God for the sunshine, spend some time with family, and start packing for our debriefing/re-entry counseling sessions that start next week.  Please pray that we will begin to heal in a healthy way during this time and that when we return, God will start showing us what to do next.
